Loop-based spacer fabrics are a new 3D printing method to create spacer fabric structures.
They are fabricated by printing over a network of spun yarns at an elevated height, gravity then causes the filament fall down between the yarns to form loops.
The loop height can be tuned to create loops of various heights.
By placing a mould on the print bed, the loops can take various shapes.
By tuning the extrusion locally, images can be embedded into its 3D structure
The spacer fabrics are voluminous and soft, making a great 3D printable padding.
